Position Summary:
Senior Machinery Control Systems Engineer supporting shipboard machinery control systems, with a strong waterfront focus on installation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. The role requires significant PLC-based control systems experience, shipyard/waterfront support, and hands-on work aboard Navy or Coast Guard vessels.

Requirements:
  • 10 years of professional engineering experience
  • 5–7 years testing and troubleshooting PLC-based machinery control systems
  • 5–7 years of technical writing, including: Test procedures, installation and rip-out documentation Technical manuals. 
  • 3 years supporting machinery control systems aboard USCGC POLAR STAR (WAGB-10)
  • 3 years as a waterfront representative at a civilian or military shipyard
  • B.S. degree in engineering discipline
Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary waterfront point of contact for ship checks, installations, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide shipboard and remote troubleshooting support during ship light-off, installation, and testing.
  • Write and maintain test procedures, test plans, installation/rip-out procedures, maintenance procedures, and technical manuals.
  • Perform software loads on Windows/Linux computers, PLC processors/cards, and circuit-level firmware.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies, configuration issues, equipment deficiencies, and installation/operational interferences during ship checks.
  • Develop shipboard installation, troubleshooting, and test-assessment plans.
  • Produce status reports, metrics, and trip reports.
  • Track failures in the System Problem/Improvement Report database.
  • Provide shipboard operator and maintenance training on machinery control systems.
